Result Updates of HK Skiers and Riders at Asian Championships

Dear Members & Friends,

The Hong Kong waterski and wakeboard team had recently competed at the 2011 Nautique IWWF Asian Waterski & Wakeborad Championships held at Putrajaya, Malayisa on Oct 5-9, 2011 with mixed results.

Our top skier Jon Cannon who was a pre-event favourite in winning a medal in the Men's Slalom event was injured in training just prior to the event. It was most unfortunate for Jon, being affected by his back injury, he was not able to get pass the preliminary round. Our other skier Caleb Knight did relatively well. He was able to reach the Slalom finals and skied his personal best to place in 8th position eventually.

Our men's wakeboard riders Cheung Ho Lung and Wan Ka Choi did well in their quarter-finals heats and got straight into the semis. Facing stiff competition from the strong riders from Japan, Thailand and Korea, they were not able to get through to the finals. Our women's rider Ruby Lee was also eliminated at the LCQ. The HK wakeboard team placed 8th overall amongst 11 teams.
