Kai Tak Water Sports Centre

Dear all members & friends,

You should be aware that there is proposal to government by the HK Rowing association and the Dragon Boat Association to make the old Kai Tak Nulla adjacent to the airport a Water Sports Centre. Through discussion with them we have managed to convince them to at least incorporate in the design concept provision for a cable waterski/wakeboard area ( see attached diagram).

This is obviously a long term project and there remain particular concerns still over the quality of the water, however given time this may be resolved.

Initially we need your support to lobby the town Planning Board to amend their plans to help incorporate facilities to develop this area as a Water Sports Centre. Below I set out the request.

Dear Water Sports Person

A submission has been made to the Town Planning Board to request land to be made available for a water sports centre at Kai Tak and this is supported by the main National Sports Associations associated with water sports.

Part of the centre would be a 2,000m international rowing and canoeing course and cable waterski area. The attached plan indicates the proposal in outline.

Attached is a summary in Chinese and English, of the submission to the TPB that you are invited to support.

Your personal support for the project will help greatly and you can do this simply by sending the attached comment form to the Town Planning Board by the 9 December 2011.

Alternatively you can comment on line at the TPB website http://www.info.gov.hk/tpb/en/plan_making/draft_plan.html

Look for "Kai Tak" and "Make Comment". Include number R1111.
